Mast Installation Location

The mast was deployed at the end of one of the boom of the Research Platform FLIP offshore the coast of Southern California.

What was unique about this installation?

“The mast was mounted upside-down, meaning that the gravity helped during the extension of the mast, while the winch was used to retract the mast.”

How did Floatograph provide the solution for the project needs?

“The mast helped us to bring our instruments as close as possible to the waves depending on the environmental conditions (wind speed, size of the waves), hence keeping our instruments out of reach from the waves (i.e. save) when conditions were stormy.”

Mast Type
